Post Number 99...

A very hectic start to the school term...

It is abit weird after 3 months of 'holidays' and adapting to once again attending lectures, and to make it worse, evening and night lectures!!!

Well, at least i found time today to relax and enjoy abit...

Which leads me to want to cheer,

Well Done Singapore Paddlers!!!

Finally, after almost half a century, we finally have a medal in the Olympics!

This is all thanks to Feng Tian Wei, whom i think is the best performer in the Singapore table-tennis team...her play was very intelligent and her attacks were relentless...

The match between us and south korea was so exciting i was cheering and moaning at the same time while watching it in lab lor...haha...

And it further confirmed my suspicion that li jiawei really cannot handle pressure...

Credit to the south koreans for putting up a big fight, their defence i think is superb...

It is sort of an irony that in the end of a battle between an attacking team and a defensive team, the game point was decided by an unforced error...

But well, it was a really entertaining 4 hours i had...wonderful...
.....................................................................................
I had a not so wonderful time watching 'The Last Temptation of Raffles' though...

The show was not bad...although some of the parts i can only understand after we were enlightened in the post-show discussion...

But one thing i really do not understand is why do they need to put certain dialogues in malay and indian without subtitles...in the end i do not know what they were talking about and it sort of made everything abit irritating to watch...

Yes, it is a good point that as Singaporeans, we should at least know abit more about the malay language, if not, we should take the effort to learn...we take for granted for what we have and not appreciating the roots of our culture...

But that is still no excuse to not put in subtitles!!! You are taking for granted your audience would be able to enjoy the play because it is by you...

What? We are suppose to learn the other languages for some time first before watching it? You think everyone have the time to indulge in all these appreciation of culture and languages?

I may sound unreasonable...but let me get this straight...I may not be very high class in the sense that i cannot really appreciate very artistic stuffs...but that doesn't mean i do not acknowledge the efforts put in by the artists for doing such a fantastic job...

I go to a play in the hope of relaxing and enjoying as well as appreciating it...but it pisses me off when the director sounds like he does not appreciate the audience at all...

I may be complaining again...but what the heck...
.....................................................................................
And that was not the end of my complains...

Anyone know what the word 'flammable cupboard' means?

Well, according to my years of english learnt, not alot, not expert, but at least it is sufficient to tell me that 'flammable cupboard' means a cupboard that can easily catch fire, right?

So in that case, why do we store flammable materials in flammable cupboards?

So that they can all catch flames easily and we can have a ready made camp fire so that we can have some bbq and sing campfire songs around it?

Or so that when the weather gets cold, we can just light the cupboard up and huddle around it?

'er, so-and-so, this chemical is highly flammable, go put it in the flammable cupboard so that it can catch fire and we shall all get burn to death.'

Talk about safety when the word don even sound like it...

Even as a scientific word, flammable is still flammable...

Why cant people just term it as fireproof cupboard? or if you wanna sound abit pro, or more down to our roots, hazmat cupboard?

Flammable cupboard??? Goodness...please...
.....................................................................................
To the 'fantastic' someone that created the 'flammable cupboard',
If thermolysis is cleaving something using heat,
and photolysis is cleaving something using photons,
what then, is analysis???
